A checklist can be useful at the office conference to ensure that all necessary information is obtained. The following sample checklist covers the major items that need to be discussed in an initial office conference.

Office Conference Checklist-Farm Real Estate Transaction

1. Written contract for sale (proposed or executed).

2. Identities of the parties:

a. Buyer-All names as they should appear on deed. Is the buyer a U.S. citizen,

b. Seller-Name of seller and spouse and also name as it appeared on the instrument by which the seller took title to the property if different.

c. Lending institutions involved-Name, address, and officer to contact on any existing loan and any loans to be made.

3. Corporate parties:

a. Is one of the parties an alien or foreign business, See § 4.3, supra.

b. Is one of the parties a domestic corporation, Is it a family farm...
