B. (§16.9)Contacting the Expert

It is not unusual to first contact a consultant by telephone. When contacting the expert, it is important that counsel be knowledgeable about the case and prepared to succinctly and accurately present the problem based on provable information, not just facts or evidence that counsel hopes will show up later in the case, so that the expert can readily determine if he or she can be of help and is willing to help.
