B. (§16.21) Nondischargeability in Bankruptcy
Debtors generally file for bankruptcy to receive a discharge of all of their debts in existence at the time that they file their bankruptcy petitions. This discharge gives debtors a fresh start after bankruptcy by relieving them of their prepetition debts and is one of the primary policy justifications of the Bankruptcy Code. See S. Rep.
