B. (§16.14) Collateral Matters

It is well established that the extent and scope of cross-examination in a civil action is within the discretion of the trial court and will not be disturbed unless an abuse of discretion is clearly shown. But litigants do not have free reign to inquire into any subject matter of their choosing, including collateral matters that have no relation to the case. Rodriguez v.
