B. (§15.7) Hearing
There is no statutory requirement that a hearing be held on the petition for appointment of a guardian or conservator of a minor. Section 475.075.1, RSMo 2000. As a result, and because of limited reasons for the appointment of guardian or conservator of a minor, it is also not necessary to appoint an attorney to represent the minor. Section 475.075.3.
But there is a statutory reason to have a hearing, and that is to prove up the qualifications of the proposed guardian or conservator. Section 475.055, RSMo 2000.
