8. (§15.23) Competency Proceedings
Statutory remedies for release are provided for persons charged with criminal offenses and committed to mental institutions because of their incompetency to stand trial. Section 552.020.10, RSMo 2000. These include the filing of a petition for writ of habeas corpus in the court that committed the patient.
