A. (§15.1) Introduction
The purpose of a writ of habeas corpus is to inquire into the cause of the restraint of a person’s liberty. Rule 91.01. Chapter 532, RSMo, pertains to habeas corpus proceedings. Rule 91 supersedes statutes that are in conflict. See Rule 41.02.
Under MO. CONST. art. I, § 12, suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus is prohibited.
