4. (§14.11) Attorney General

The Attorney General has statewide authority to proceed by quo warranto. He or she may file the case in either the appropriate circuit court, the court of appeals, or the Supreme Court, acting ex officio on his or her own motion or on complaint of private citizens, or proceeding with a private relator. The Attorney General has ancient common-law functions in this regard and traditionally does not need leave of court and is not required to give notice before acting ex officio.
