a. (§14.10) Statutory Imputation of Liability

In general, a parent is not liable for the torts of a child simply based on the parent-child relationship. Reynolds v. Thompson, 215 S.W.2d 452, 454 (Mo. 1948). But certain exceptions to this general rule exist under Missouri statute.

Under § 8.150, RSMo 2000, if a person under 18 years of age defaces state property, the minor’s parent or guardian may be subject to a $500 penalty.
