Section 14 Naturalization Based on Marriage to a U.S. Citizen

As described in §3 in Chapter 1, an individual who is not a USC by birth may become a USC through a process referred to as naturalization. In order to be eligible for naturalization, generally, an applicant must meet the following requirements:
· Be an LPR.
· Be at least 18 years old, but if the child is under the age of 18 years and the parent naturalizes, the child automatically derives citizenship from the parent.
