Subpart G of the general industry regulations—covering
29 C.F.R. §§ 1910.94 through 1910.98—is entitled “Occupational Health and Environmental Control.” Subpart G contains regulations pertaining to ventilation, noise exposure, and nonionizing radiation.

(1) (§13.14) Ventilation

The first part of Subpart G seeks to ensure good air quality within the work environment. An important part of any workplace air quality program is ventilation, which is a method of controlling the environment with air flow. The ventilation standard, 29 C.F.R. § 1910.94, focuses mainly on protecting employees from hazardous exposure to dust and fumes as a result of abrasive blasting and spraying operations (such as painting). The ventilation standard also governs the types of respirators that
must be used to protect employees from certain types
of hazards within the work environment. See, e.g.,§ 1910.94(a)(5).
