In 1991, the General Assembly approved broad measures relating to historic preservation in Missouri. See §§ 253.408–253.415, RSMo 2000. The bulk of the enactment concerned the authority of the MoDNR (Missouri Department of Natural Resources) to act as the state historic preservation officer and to implement and administer federal and state historic preservation programs in Missouri.
