10. (§13.16) Emergencies—Guardians and Conservators ad Litem
Section 475.075.11, RSMo 2000, makes provision for handling emergency situations that need immediate attention. A typical example might be when a person needs emergency surgery and is so toxic that the person’s mind is affected but the person is likely to recover mental capacity after the surgery. In such a situation, the petition would seek the appointment of a guardian ad litem, conservator ad litem, or both but is otherwise the same as a regular petition, and about the same paperwork is involved.
