B. (§12.55) Elements

To establish a cause of action against the owner or keeper of a wild animal, a plaintiff has to allege and prove that the animal that committed the injury or damage is a wild animal and that the defendant is the owner or keeper of it. Beckett v. Beckett, 48 Mo. 396, 399 (1871). No Missouri case has yet extended liability to a person who harbors a wild animal.
