D. (§12.14) Use of Mental Health Professionals

In domestic cases involving child abuse or neglect, it may be helpful for the parties, including the minor child, to enter counseling to deal with these issues. Counseling may be helpful even if the allegations of abuse and neglect are never substantiated. Counsel should advise the client that records from the parties’ or the child’s treatment from a mental health professional may be obtained and used in the
