B. (§12.12) Child Protection Orders Act

To avoid the problems associated with the denial of custody or visitation rights, counsel may want to consider filing an order of child protection in accordance with the Child Protection Orders Act, §§ 455.500–455.538, RSMo 2000 and Supp. 2011. These statutory provisions allow for the filing of an order of protection in child abuse cases by the parent or guardian of the child, the guardian ad litem or court-appointed special advocate, or the juvenile officer.
