For purposes of FMLA leave, immediate family members are covered. The terms son and daughter are broadly defined to include a “biological, adopted, or foster child, a stepchild, a legal ward, or a child of a person standing in loco parentis.” 29 U.S.C. § 2611(12). Children who are over age 18 who are “incapable of self-care because of a mental or physical disability” are also covered. Id. See also:
