2. (§11.7) Advantages of Earliest Objection

Generally, it is best to have a hearing regarding the admissibility of the defendant’s statements at the earliest possible stage of the proceedings and to preserve the objection at each stage after that. In felony cases, when permitted, defense counsel should even object at the preliminary hearing stage.
