1. (§11.44) Timeframes
Section 454.470, RSMo Supp. 2011, outlines the procedure that the FSD uses to initiate administrative establishment of a child support order. Once a IV-D technician determines an appropriate amount for support, a “notice and finding” will be sent to both parents within 14 days of the issuance of the notice and finding. Section 454.470.6. Within 20 days, a parent may request a negotiation conference. Section 454.470.7. In many cases, counsel should at least attempt a good faith negotiation with the IV-D technician.
