Two of the main alcohol-monitoring devices on the market that Missouri DWI attorneys will run into are the SCRAMx and BI TAD (transdermal alcohol device). Both:

· are detectors that are placed on the ankle of a subject and worn 24 hours a day;

· employ fuel-cell technology to monitor the subject’s alcohol consumption;

· have satellite geo-positioning monitoring capabilities; and

· have detection methods to detect tampering.

The SCRAMx folks have been very open and have proven and fully tested the device. The BI TAD folks are very secretive and have not disclosed detailed information about their product.
