Section 10 Procedural Rights

In connection with the dismissal hearing, a juvenile enjoys numerous constitutionally protected procedural rights, which are discussed in greater detail in §§14.21–14.24 below. Briefly, those rights include:

· notice of the nature of the proceedings;

· access to social reports and investigations;

· a hearing;

· representation by counsel; and

· a statement of the reasons for the dismissal to allow prosecution under the general law.
