4. (§10.11) Special Circumstances

If a minor needs medical treatment and a parent or guardian is absent, an adult sibling or a grandparent of the minor may consent to the treatment. “Absence” is defined as being unavailable at a time when further delay caused by the attempt to obtain a consent from a parent or guardian may jeopardize the life, health, or limb of the minor patient, or may result in disfigurement or impairment of faculties.
