1. (§10.10) Introduction

The opening and closing of the cross-examination are both extremely important. There should be no set pattern for the introduction because it must be based on the examiner’s understanding of people, the case, and the witness. There are some goals that may be important in particular situations. They include:

· establishing a rapport with the witness;

· making a strong point while the examiner has (and hopes to...
