A natural watercourse is a stream or body of water, usually flowing in a definite channel with beds, sides, and banks, that normally discharges into some other larger stream or body of water. A natural watercourse must provide more than mere surface drainage.

Hollows, ravines, and sloughs are not “natural” watercourses. Benson v. Chicago & Alton R.R. Co., 78 Mo. 504 (1883). See also:
