3. (§1.25) Obtaining Papers and Signatures

Gently but firmly, counsel should detach the client or the forwarding attorney from the complete file. Counsel should not let the client decide what may or may not be helpful. Counsel should then obtain the client’s signature on forms authorizing counsel to obtain the following:

· Information concerning the client’s employment and earnings, including the special IRS form

· Military service and Veteran’s Administration records
