Chapter 19 deals with comparative fault. The authors trace the application of the doctrine of comparative fault since its adoption in Gustafson v. Benda, 661 S.W.2d 11 (Mo. banc 1983). The chapter also discusses the proper method of computing the amount of the judgment when a plaintiff settles with one defendant, proceeds to trial against another, and is assessed some percentage of comparative fault.
