The realities of the dynamic and complex relationships that lawyers are confronted with daily in professional, commercial, industrial, technological, and recreational settings have challenged the Missouri tort system and provided an impetus for change in tort law. These changes have, at times, been radical as evidenced by the substantive departure from the time-honored principle of contributory negligence, the enactment of the medical malpractice statute, and the tort reform legislation that has been enacted over the years.
