Public companies with a market capitalization of less than $75 million now have until July 2007--an extension of one year--to document and file their financial controls, according to the SEC.

The SEC also proposed creating a new category of large accelerated filers--companies with a market capitalization of $700 million or more that meet the same conditions that apply to accelerated filers.
