Sealab Cartoon May Become Reality for China.

* Speaking of life under the ocean, one must be of a certain age to remember the Saturday morning cartoon "Sealab 2020," or even Saturday morning cartoons at all, which have become a thing of the past.

In 1972, Hanna-Barbera Productions created only one season of the animated series, which was set in a deep-sea laboratory on an underwater mountain and centered around the adventures of its 250 occupants.

The series was revived in the early 2000s by the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim as a spoof, called "Sealab 2021."

Now, the cartoon may become a reality.

The People's Republic of China is planning on building a facility under the ocean, Margaret Leinen, director of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, said at a recent Brooking Institution panel.
