ACE Air Cargo recently flew an injured seal pup 800 miles from Dutch Harbor to Anchorage for treatment at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward.

Dutch Harbor residents found the four- to five-week-old pup on a beach and watched her all day to keep local dogs and predators away. Reid Brewer, a Dutch Harbor-based University of Alaska Fairbanks Marine Animal Program biologist, examined the pup and feared she wouldn't survive the night.

He called ACE, and ACE team members Greg Hawthorne and Lia Porras helped him load the pup into a portable dog kennel for shipment to Anchorage.
