Scones help sharpen focus for marksmen.

A line of tactical optics--or riflescopes--is targeting the military and law enforcement markets.

The devices, introduced recently by Nikon Sports Optics, of Melville, N.Y., could help improve the long-range marksmanship of police officers and military snipers, for example, said company spokesman Pat Mundy.

The line includes 2.5-10x44 and 4-16x50 riflescopes, as well as the TF3 Tactical Field-scope.

The riflescopes--which can be mounted on a number of military and civilian firearms--come with precision-ground and polished lenses that have multiple layers of an antireflective coating to increase sharpness and resolution.

The devices are built on 30 mm, onepiece, main-body tubes, constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum.

Each scope is nitrogen-filled and sealed for protection against water, fog and shock, Mundy said.
