The Hon. J. Ernest Kinard Jr. has attended The Judge as Fact Finder and Decision Maker Conference sponsored by the American Academy of Judicial Education.
L. Suzanne Mayes has received the 2004 Ernest F. Hollings Award for Excellence in State Prosecution in the General Sessions Court from the Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee of the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Erika L. McJimsey has received the 2004 Ernest F. Hollings Award for Excellence in State Prosecution in the Family Court from the Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

On August 24 the Court reinstated Mitzi Campbell Williams of Savannah.
On August 27 the Court reinstated George Turner Perrow of Georgetown and Warren Stephen Curtis of Sumter.
On September 20 the Court reinstated Laurie A. Baker of Charlotte.
On September 22 the Court reinstated Francis A. Humphries Jr. of Conway.
Incapacity Inactive Status
On August 30, the Court placed R. Charles Richards of W. Columbia on Incapacity Inactive Status.

Casemaker(c) is the new, free online legal research product for South Carolina Bar members. Recently, Bar members received a letter from Bar President F. Earl Ellis Jr. announcing the launch of the Casemaker(c) Web Library. Each letter included the member's username and password. Here's how to access Casemaker(c):

Go to www.scbar.org/casemaker or click on the Casemaker button on the left side of any scbar.org page.

On this page you may either view or print the FAQs (frequently asked questions), the User Guide and the Cheat Sheet.

Scroll down the page and click on the link that says Login to Casemaker(c).

The Casemaker(c) login page will open.

Type in the e-mail address and password that was provided in the letter.

You will see a new page that says, "You have reached the secure area of the South Carolina Bar Web site."

Click on the link that says, "Go to Casemaker(c)."

A new page will open with the end user license agreement. Click, "I Agree, Continue."

The next page that opens is the Casemaker(c) Library. You're in!

Deadline December 31 for taking revised Lawyers Oath
Administration of the revised Lawyers Oath and related seminars began in April, with full compliance expected by all Bar members by December 31. One-hour seminars are being presented through the Bar's CLE Division, local bars and other bar associations. A schedule of remaining seminars is available online at www.scbar.org/member/cle/Oath.asp.
USC School of Law alumni honored with Compleat Lawyer Awards
The University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Association Compleat Lawyer Awards Dinner was held on Friday, October 8, at the Embassy Suites on Greystone Boulevard in Columbia.
This year's honorees were: C. Ben Bowen, Victoria L. Eslinger and W. Duvall Spruill (platinum recipients); Thomas C. Brittain, Albert D. McAlister and Robert E. Stepp (gold recipients); and Robert F. Daley Jr., Harry R. Easterling Jr. and J. Hagood Tighe (silver recipients). The honorees are individuals who have made significant contributions to the legal profession and who exemplify the highest standards of professional competence, ethics and integrity.
