On August 5, 2010, the US Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that it had reached an agreement to strengthen outreach efforts and expand development opportunities for small businesses in the information technology (IT) industry. The agreement was signed by the SBA and the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

CompTIA is a nonprofit trade association that advances the global interests of IT professionals and companies, including manufacturers, distributors, resellers, and educational institutions. CompTIA provides education and training to individuals underrepresented in the IT industry.
