SBA Offers Cook Inlet Disaster Assistance.

The U.S. Small Business Administration recently declared the area around Cook Inlet a disaster because of the economic impact of the Kenai River sockeye salmon spawning grounds failure due to severe storms and flooding in 1995.

"The businesses dependent on the fishing economy can finally get the loans they need to offset the economic impacts of this disaster," said Gov. Tony Knowles, who requested the assistance from the SBA.
