Say Yes to Compacts

In her letter to the editor, "Say No to Compacts" in the February/March issue, Judy Alter gets it right in calling for electing the President by popular vote. After all, in 2020 we came within 46,000 votes (between Arizona, Wisconsin, and Georgia) of overturning a national lead of seven million votes. This is unacceptable.

But Judy is mistaken when she asserts the National Popular Vote bill violates the Constitution. Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution leaves awarding electoral votes to state law.
