The Santa Clara Valley TEI Chapter hosted several seminars during the winter, including "Subpart F: Issues and Challenges" on November 17, 2009; "Legislative Updates" on February 2, 2010; and "Research Tax Credit: Hot Topics and Technical Updates" on March 16.

The Subpart F seminar attracted 177 registrants who heard presentations by popular presenters Lowell Yoder, Fred Chilton, and Rod Donnelly of McDermott Will & Emery on foreign personal holding company income, foreign base company sales and service income, and the effect of Obama administration international tax proposals on planning structures.

The Legislative Updates seminar featured several speakers from Morgan Lewis & Bockius, including Mary "Handy" Hevener, who presented to 90 attendees an update on international legislative and transfer pricing developments, the tax implications of health care reform, and legislation affecting several compensation issues.
