On May 13th, the San Francisco Chapter of the Tax Executives Institute held its annual TEI IRS Day. This year was a particularly highly attended event since the IRS is entering a significantly new chapter in its history and our attendees were eager to hear how the IRS will approach tax administration with its large corporate taxpayers. Our panel discussion on the new direction for the IRS included insights into John Koskinen, the recently appointed IRS Commissioner, an introduction of new IRS directors and managers for the San Francisco Bay Area, and LB&I audit procedures and priorities the Administration will implement in the future. Cheryl Claybough and Kim Edwards from the IRS's CTM Industry group, along with other IRS Territory Managers, provided detail into the IRS's current resources and budget constraints.

Our Chapter had the pleasure of having TEI National Executive Director, Eli Dicker, moderate the panel. He offered his insights into the new direction of the IRS and orchestrated a lively discussion on recent IRS cases in the area of transfer pricing and international information exchange.
