"I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS ONE YET," SAID DEAN SINGLETON AS I HANDED him a December issue of ColoradoBiz, the one with the picture of the governor on the front of it.

The occasion was the photo shoot for this month's cover, illustrating our first-ever feature on Colorado's 25 most powerful people.

We had fun putting this issue together, and it signals some different directions the magazine will take for the next few years.

We're going to do more: cover more issues of importance and impact to Colorado's business community, more people who play roles that have a big impact on that community, and more companies that are members.

Singleton, publisher of The Denver Post, is ranked No. 8 on our list, not only for his role at the local newspaper but because he leads the seventh largest newspaper company in the nation, and may soon own a few television stations as well.

As his statement implies, he is a regular reader, and since he is also one of the most powerful people in the state, we can say that our magazine truly gets into the hands of people who count in Colorado.

If you also look occasionally at the people who sign off on their letters to the editor in our Readers Respond department, you'll see that those readers, too, are business owners, vice presidents of companies large and small, architects, real-estate brokers, managers, government officials, and more.

I like to tell people that if you read between the lines of the stories we write, you'll not only get a good report of where Colorado's business climate has been, but where it's heading.
