Salt Lake.

The Wasatch Front is a region of north central Utah, generally defined by the cities along the western side of the Wasatch Mountains, most of which are bordered to the west by either the Great Salt Lake or Utah Lake. At the center of the Wasatch Front is Salt Lake City, the state's largest city and capital. The majority of the state's population lives in this region, with a total population of more than 2,000,000. Salt Lake City serves as Utah's gateway to the state's renowned landscapes and outdoor recreational areas. A beautiful, safe and vibrant city, Salt Lake combines the amenities of a major metropolitan area with the friendliness of a small city. The city itself has 180,651 residents, but the population of the Salt Lake Valley is more than 1,000,000. Frequently listed by national magazines and websites among the "best places to live" due to its recreational options, the business environment, climate and low crime rate, Salt Lake is the 50th largest metropolitan market in the United States.

An international airport and two major interstate highways provide easy access and an award-winning bus and light rail system provides public transportation throughout the area.

Salt Lake Valley is less than one hour's drive from seven world-class ski resorts, three Nordic ski areas, and the nation's only recreational ski jumping complex. The Salt Lake Valley has some of the best maintained and most accessible golf courses in the country. Utah has more golf courses per capita than any other state in the nation, and Golf Digest has ranked Salt Lake City as a #1 golf city for big cities in the country.

Recreational opportunities abound with several professional sports teams (NBA's Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake soccer, and baseball's Triple A Salt Lake Bees), lively entertainment and night life, diverse dining options, shopping, and a rich cultural scene featuring a symphony, opera, ballet, theater, and museums.

From the Salt Lake City Valley, there is easy access to world-renowned white water rafting, bicycling, rock climbing, hiking and backpacking. Within the borders of Utah are seven national forests, five national parks, seven national monuments and two national recreation areas, all within a few hours of Salt Lake City.
