S.C. tax deadline moved to May 17.

The S.C. Department of Revenue has moved the deadline for individual income tax filing from April 15 to May 17, following guidance from the Internal Revenue Service.

The change only affects individuals, with estimated tax payments still due April 15, according to a release from the department.

The deadline extension is automatic, with no additional forms or action necessary.

The IRS and the U.S. Treasury Department announced March 17 that the filing deadline would be extended for the second year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, the deadline was extended until July 15.
