Rundles off track on FasTracks.

Columnist Jeff Rundles spends a great deal of time advocating the benefits of mass transit ("FasTrack to gridlock," August), but then fails to endorse FasTracks and instead proposes the creation of a statewide planning commission with authority over Denver-region mass transit. If he truly believes in mass transit, Rundles should endorse FasTracks.

FasTracks is a comprehensive plan for the Denver metro-politan area developed over seven years following hundreds of meetings with citizens, business leaders and local governments. FasTracks is a well thought-out plan that takes into consideration the unique characteristics and needs of every community in the region. If approved by voters, FasTracks would be funded by a modest Regional Transportation District (RTD) sales-tax increase of four cents on a $10 taxable sale. Overall, FasTracks is a responsible approach that allows us to take steps now to meet the needs of the metro region that is expected to grow by more than 900,000 people and 550,000 jobs in the next 20...
