On its 150th Anniversary, Boone County National Bank (BCNB) decided to give a gift to the community. This decision was made in keeping with the bank's tradition as a leading corporate community citizen and supporter of the arts.

During a September weekend, BCNB hosted the Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ Festival in downtown Columbia--an event that featured food, area craftspeople, a Kansas City BBQ Society-sanctioned barbecue contest, and more than 30 nationally known and Grammy-winning "roots" musicians (Taj Majal, Chris Thomas King, Jerry Douglas and others) performing bluegrass, blues, folk, gospel and other genres of American music.

The BBQ competition attracted more than 50 professional teams, making it the second largest competition in the state.
