Has spring fever arrived in your classroom? Never fear: This issue of Upfront will help students stay focused with a package of compelling articles and teaching resources on wide-ranging topics, from the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan, to the recent publication of Hitler's manifesto Mein Kampf in Germany for the first time in 70 years.

One surefire way to keep students' attention is to pair our articles with the amazing background videos you'll find on the Upfront website. Five are included with this issue! (See the list at left.) Quality videos and other multimedia offerings have an important new role in today's classrooms, thanks to rigorous standards like the Common Core. For example, students are expected to "analyze various accounts of a subject told in different mediums" (CCSSELA-RI.9-10.7) and "integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in different media or formats" (CCSSELA-RI.11-12.7).
