Rivera v. Alvarado, 240 F.Supp.2d 136 (D.Puerto Rico 2003). The mother of a deceased prisoner brought a [section] 1983 action alleging that corrections officials and doctors at a hospital failed to adequately treat and provide medical care for the prisoner, in violation of the Eighth Amendment. The district court dismissed the action, finding that the complaint did not support a conclusion that there was deliberate indifference by the doctors.
