Ritchie wins chamber's leadership award.

The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce has named DANIEL L. RITCHIE, chancellor of the University of Denver, its 2004 recipient of its Business Leadership Award. "The business community is just one segment that has benefited from this man's talents and passions," said Don Kortz, chair of the chamber's board of directors and chairman of Fuller & Co. "With this award, we wanted to say thank you for all he has done for Colorado," Kortz said at a special chamber luncheon last month.

JACK SMITH, a partner at Holland & Hart and one of the leading bankruptcy and insolvency lawyers in Colorado for more than 25 years, is the first fellow selected from Colorado for induction into the American College of Bankruptcy in six years. He will be inducted at a ceremony at the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington in March.

LARRY S. DURAN, president and CEO of Dura-N-Company Enterprises Inc., an Arvada background-checking firm that does business as IBC, was named chair of the Rocky Mountain Minority Supplier Development Council's minority business input committee. Duran also will represent the 14-member committee on the council's board of directors. The non-profit council represents nearly 100 corporations and more than 270 minority-owned businesses in the Rocky Mountain region. The mission of the Council is to bring together regional and national corporations with minority suppliers.

The Broe Companies has hired real estate veteran CHRIS MATTHEWS to run its day-to-day operations. Matthews, formerly the managing director of Nippon Property Management Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GMAC Commercial Mortgage, Japan, will be responsible for all non-acquisition activities related to Broe Real Estate and Aspen Retirement Corp. Broe, based in Denver, owns office, residential, retail, and industrial properties throughout the United States and Canada.
