Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority

State Department of Administration Commissioner Bob Poe accepted the position of executive director of the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority. Following a statewide search, the AIDEA board of directors selected Poe as the executive director and as executive director of the Alaska Energy Authority. Poe, 46, worked for AIDEA as business development manager from August 1997 to 1998, where he was responsible for AIDEA's development finance program and management of AIDEA-owned and -operated projects.

Gov. Tony Knowles named Jim Duncan of Juneau to replace Poe as commissioner of the Department of Administration. Duncan, 58, served on the Juneau Assembly and was a lawmaker for more than 24 years. Knowles hired Duncan in 1999 as a special assistant on labor issues where he was active in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with public employee unions.

Department of Natural Resources

Gov. Tony Knowles named former legislator Pat Pourchot to head the state Department of Natural Resources. Pourchot served as Knowles' legislative director for the past six years. Pourchot was elected to the state House of Representatives in 1984 and served two terms, followed by one term in the state Senate, where he served as chair of the state affairs committee and co-chair of the finance committee.

Pourchot succeeds John Shively, who recently announced his resignation citing family reasons.

Spenard Builders Supply

Spenard Builders Supply of Anchorage hired Barbara Russell for its outside sales force for the millwork department. Russell has experience in sales and marketing and prior to Spenard Builders Supply she was sales representative for numerous companies, including Huttig Building Products and Reeb Millwork Corp.

Hawaiian Vacations

Con Jager joined Hawaiian Vacations as director of product development. Jager has more than 17 years experience in international marketing and sales, including his recent three years as the international sales manager for Alyeska Resort & The Westin Alyeska Prince Hotel in the tour, wholesale, ski and international markets.
