Gold Pan Awards

Five Anchorage individuals and businesses were honored recently at the 43rd annual Gold Pan Awards, and a list of other honors were bestowed by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce. Tom Williams, tax counsel for BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. and a member of the Chamber's board, received the Outstanding Chamber Service by a Member award. Lynne Henderson received the award for Distinguished Service by an Individual for years of volunteering, social work and fundraising in the community. Cook Inlet Region Inc. was given the award for Distinguished Community Service by a Business. The Alaska Small Business Development Center was given the award for Distinguished Community Service by an Organization. The Alaska Theater of Youth was awarded the Premier Service to Youth by an Individual, Organization or Business honor. Arliss Sturgulewski, who has been involved in state and local public affairs for more than 40 years, received the Gene Guess Award for the magnitude of her community involvement.

Dynamic Properties

Carole Bennett joined Dynamic Properties as an associate broker. She has been a Realtor for 2l years and has lived in Anchorage since 1983. Margaret Goche joined Dynamic as a sales associate and has been an active Realtor licensed since 1985. Peggy Gonzalez joined the agency as a sales associate. She was born in Venezuela and specializes in new construction marketing. John Levy has been hired as a sales associate and is a lifelong Alaskan. He has been in the Anchorage real estate market for 10 years. Steve LaRosa joined Dynamic Properties as a licensed assistant to Levy and has been Levy's assistant for four years.

Regulatory Commission of Alaska

Gov. Tony Knowles reappointed Jim Strandberg to a full six-year term on the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. A former Fairbanks resident who now works out of the commission's Anchorage office, Strandberg fills a seat set aside for a registered engineer.

Strandberg is a registered mechanical and civil engineer and earned engineering degrees at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and has worked as a private engineer focusing on power plant, heating, ventilation and related utility design.

The commission was formed in May of 1999 to replace the Alaska Public Utilities Commission.
