Retired license for CPAs a step closer in California.

Assembly Bill 431, proposed by California Assembly member Fiona Ma, CPA, was passed by the Senate Committee on Business Professions and Economic Development June 20. The bill, which would authorize the CBA to establish a retired status for CPAs, received unanimous and bipartisan support is being held in the Senate Appropriations Committee due to a cost estimate of $300,000 annually to the CBA.

CalCPA is working with the CBA and the Legislature to see if it can get passed this year.
