Scope: The National Institutes of Health seeks (SB1)
Commercialization Readiness Program applications
for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR)
Commercialization Readiness Pilot (CRP) Program
Technical Assistance and Late Stage Development
announcement to facilitate the transition of previously or
currently funded SBIR and STTR Phase II and Phase
IIB projects to the commercialization stage.
Deadline: Letters of Intent are due 30 days prior to the
application due date; proposals are due Sept. 5, 2020;
Jan. 5, 2020; and April 5, 2021.
Funds: The number of awards depends on
appropriations and the submission of a sufficient
number of quality applications.

Areas: NIH said topic areas may include technical
assistance, such as the development of regulatory

for the Promoting Research on Music and Health:
Phased Innovation Award for Music Interventions
announcement to promote innovative research on music
and health with an emphasis on developing music
interventions aimed at understanding their mechanisms
of action and clinical applications for the treatment of
many diseases, disorders and conditions.
Deadline: Oct. 2, 2020; June 2, 2021; and Oct. 4, 2021.
Funds: Awards of up to $350,000, with projects of up to
ve years.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations, including small businesses; nonprot
organizations; and state, local and Native American
tribal governments; among others.
Areas: NIH said examples of topics of high interest
include but are not limited to: the mechanisms of music
interventions for pain, opioid misuse, management of
other symptoms or palliative care; and the mechanisms
of music interventions for visual impairments, hearing
restoration, voice, speech and language rehabilitation
or spatial orientation. An example of R33 phase projects
includes furthering mechanistic studies of music
interventions in human subjects or in-depth analysis
in animal models, if the R61 phase focuses on a basic
mechanistic study in animal models.
