Southern Candymakers, a New Orleans confectioner specializing in pralines and other treats, has formed a partnership with the Audubon Institute whereby 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue Gift package will be donated to the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, which still is trying to help the many sea creatures injured during last year's BP Horizon disaster. "The man-made oil spill ... has been cruel and punishing to coastal communities, the fragile wetlands, and the wildlife that makes its home there," notes Pete Tompkins, president and cofounder of Southern Candymakers.
